Ramata
Network Administrator
How did you evolve within Cromology?
I started out working in the catering industry after my BAC Pro then I went back to school to study for a BTS Assistante Manager. I worked as such for 7 years. In 2017 I decided to go back to school again and turn to IT with a BTS SIO level IT certificate. I joined the group in 2018 initially on a temporary basis as an IT technician in the office automation department, to work on telephony deployed in all Tollens and Zolpan outlets. I stayed in this position for the 6 months of the project’s deployment. At the time, I was studying for a network administrator’s license. I was looking for a company to do my work-study placement and my manager, who was very satisfied with my work, offered to keep me on – I’d like to take this opportunity to thank him! In 2021, with my degree in hand, I was hired as a network administrator on a permanent contract.
On a day-to-day basis, my job is to ensure that the network in our points of sale runs smoothly, which is essential for the stores’ day-to-day business. For example, I’m the one who triggers an incident with our operator when there’s a network outage and monitors the restoration of the connection. I’m also the one who sends out 4G routers to replace the existing ones and helps find a solution to a network problem. Projects are an important part of my job, including the rollout of fiber to our 300 stores and the deployment of WiFi.
What do you like in your job?
Human contact and passing on knowledge. I like helping users of our Points of Sale network and making their day-to-day work easier: adding a printer, taking screenshots, switching calls… and the users are grateful, I regularly get little thank-you emails, I feel useful, it’s very gratifying! I also enjoy project management: TOIP, electronic payment terminal, fax to e-mail migration, switch migration, fiber deployment… the projects are varied!
Something about you?
On the personal side, I have been supporting the construction of new schools in Senegal for 2 years and helping to integrate students in difficulty.
